A trip to Sicily earlier this month reconfirmed my love affair for this fascinating island that blends Italian, Greek, Spanish, French and Arab cultural influences. There’s not just one aspect of Sicily that I love — it’s the incredible cuisine, the innovative wines, the gorgeous landscape, the architecture, the history, the street food and, of course, the people. Traveling in Sicily feels simpler and easier than other parts of Italy. Some people explain a trip to Sicily as “going back in time” and I couldn’t agree more. I like spending time alone. I love an afternoon at a museum by myself, people watching at a café – I even enjoy eating out alone on occasion. However, I would choose group travel over going solo any day.
